Stella is proud to present its latest initiative: Stella Day Out, a free one-day festival for everyone who loves reading and writing.
This year Stella furthers its commitment to breaking down barriers to literary events with the inaugural Stella Day Out, a one-day celebration of the most original, excellent, and engaging work by Australian women and non-binary authors.
Stella recognises that prohibitive costs, time of day, transportations challenges, and caregiving duties can deter people from attending paid literary events. That is why Stella Day Out is free, set in an accessible location close to trains, trams and buses, and runs during the day. The event is tailored to cater to everyone, including retirees, parents with young children and university students.
At Stella, our commitment goes beyond literature. It’s about fostering a literary culture that is inclusive, diverse, and open to all.
“I am so excited to present Stella Day Out, an opportunity for everyone in the reading community to engage with some of their favourite authors in an inclusive and relaxed setting where everyone is welcomed,” says Fiona Sweet, Executive Director of Stella.
Our carefully curated program celebrates the work of Australian women and non-binary authors and has something for all.
Stella invites everyone to delve into the world of poetry, graphic novels, non-fiction, and the past and future of the Stella Prize during the inaugural Stella Day Out on 9 November at Treasury Theatre (Lower Plaza, 1 Macarthur Street, Melbourne).
Future iterations of Stella Day Out will be announced shortly.
